  • 1. A participant may cancel his/her enrollment, and request a full refund in writing (e-mail is acceptable) by midnight of the fifth day after registration. The cancellation date will be determined by the earlier of the postmark date on written notification, time stamp of e-mail, or the date said information is delivered to the school administrator in person. All monies collected by the school will be paid within 20 days of cancellation.

    2. If cancellation, withdrawal, or termination of enrollment occurs after five business days but prior to or during the first week of instruction, the student is entitled to 100% refund of tuition less $100.00 non-refundable registration fee.

    3. In case of a major illness or other life-altering circumstances the school may, at its option, make a settlement, which is reasonable and fair to both. The school cannot be accountable for such circumstances and cannot guarantee reimbursement outside of what is delineated in the above authorized tuition adjustment table.

    4. If situations of mitigating circumstances are evident, the Director of School determines the amount of refund due to the student which may exceed the minimum cancellation and settlement policy.

    5. When a student withdraws or discontinues schooling after completion of the first week of instruction he/she will be charged as per the following schedule:

    If termination occurs, school shall keep:
    Prior to or during the first week 0%
    During the second week 25%
    During the third week 50%
    During the fourth week 75%
    After the fourth week 100%

    Full Time/Part Time Students

    1. Full time: At least 18 clock hours a week that should be verified by P/DSO as a full course of study.
    2. Part time: Less than 18 clock hours a week that considered as a part time students.

    The student's failure to notify the school representative in writing of withdrawal may delay refund of tuition.

    Except that the hourly rate as per student contract shall be substituted for such hour that have to be made up beyond the stated program's length.

    Enrollment time is defined as the time elapsed between the actual start date and the date of the student's last day of physical attendance in the school. Any monies due the applicant or student shall be refunded within twenty days of formal cancellation by the student or formal termination by the school, or in the case of leave of absence, the documented date of return. If a school permanently closes and no longer offers instruction after a student has enrolled, the student shall be entitled to a full refund of tuition.

    If a course is canceled subsequent to a student's enrollment, the school shall, at its option:
    1. Provide a full refund of all monies paid, or
    2. Otherwise provide completion of the course.

    The tuition reimbursement fund is designed to protect the financial interest of the students attending a proprietary school. If a school closes while you are in attendance prior to the completion of your educational program, then you may be eligible for a refund of all tuition expenses you have paid. If you drop out of school prior to completion and you file a complaint against the school with the State Education Department, you must provide factual support that your complain is valid and to determine that there was a violation of Education Law or the Commissioner's Regulations.

    If a student fails to pay the entire tuition due within four weeks of enrollment and subsequently drops out of the program, the Academy reserves the right to place the tuition in collection.

    H&K International Beauty School reserves the right to cancel or reschedule workshops.

    In the following, 'School' refers to H&K International Beauty School for all pre-licensed or post-licensed courses.

    I. I understand that there is no guarantee of success on any exam, nor is there assurance of employment. Income or success in any field for which the above course may be preparatory. The fee paid above are for the opportunity to receive the state required education and are due regardless of whether I utilize the materials for instruction, pass any exams or become successfully employed. This agreement is the entire agreement between school and me. I have not relied on any representations and not contained herein.

    II. Registration forms received after ten days prior to the course start date will be considered late and must include the late fee of $25.00. Students registering late will be added to class to on a space available basis. If class is full, late registrants will be placed on the waiting list.

    III. I agree to comply with all rules, regulations and policies of the school as well as building or site rules & regulations. Failure to comply with any such rules, regulations, or policies will terminate my rights under this agreement, including the right to receive further instruction or to any refunds otherwise due. Policies are available upon request. In the event of a suit, including appeals, or in the event this contract should be assigned for collection, I will pay in addition to sums due herein, the school's attorney fees, court cost, and collection expenses.

    IV. The school will retain a copy of course of completion for 7 years. I acknowledge receipt of a copy of this agreement.

    V. Any of the following conduct by a student shall not be tolerated and subject the student to immediate termination from the Academy:

    1. Any act that disturbs the peace and quiet. Examples include yelling, throwing of objects, instigating other students to complain against the Academy or its staff, and acts that a reasonable person will view as being disrespectful toward the Academy staff.

    2. Demanding that the Academy guarantee that the student will pass the State’s written test.

    3. A student may not expect or demand that the Academy provide the student with information regarding specific test questions.

    4. Only students, Academy staff, and customers are permitted in the Academy premises. Non-staff members may not engage in any activity that may be viewed as instructional in nature.

    5. Any act or speech that is not civil toward the Academy staff, other students, or customers shall cause the student to receive a warning. Receipt of three (3) warnings shall be grounds for immediate expulsion from the Academy and its premises.

    6. Attendance is a requirement. Any student needing to leave the Academy premises for personal business shall first inform the Academy staff of the reason and nature of the absence.

    7. The student shall clean his/her area prior to leaving the Academy premises at the end of the day.

    8. The student shall be dressed in a professional manner. Such attire excludes wearing shoes that have open toes and clothing that is overly revealing.

    9. Each student is responsible for his/her personal belongings and shall take care to prevent loss or damage. The Academy shall not be held responsible for any loss or damage to a student’s personal belonging not due to natural catastrophes.
